In programs across the firm, we promote the physical, emotional, financial and social well-being of our lawyers and staff. Your well-being is top of our minds. When the American Bar Association launched an unprecedented mental health and wellness campaign, we were among the first to sign on to enhance our existing efforts. And we continue to expand our commitment.
Be Well
Our holistic, award-winning well-being initiative, Be Well, is a personalized program in support of a long-term commitment to your and your family’s well-being. Personnel have access to a wide variety of tools, resources, activities and group and one-on-one coaching to support a healthy, productive and balanced life, from those that support physical well-being like our generous fitness benefits, to those that encourage mental well-being like mindfulness meditation, 1:1 coaching and counseling. The firm also offers a variety of financial well-being resources and supports social well-being through our Akin in Action charitable giving platform and community service outreach.
Mental Health Advisors Offer:
- Individual sessions with licensed mental health providers
- Confidential and convenient access and scheduling
- Help with any topics you’d like to discuss, including work-life integration, resilience development and stress management
- Facilitation of regular firmwide seminars on timely, relevant topics.
All on-site and virtual visits remain confidential, except as required by law. Also, our traditional insurance benefits such as medical support are designed to ensure additional services are available to participants and their covered family members, including treatment for mental health and substance misuse disorders, and telehealth mental health.

See, Say, Help—Mental Health Awareness Initiatives
To raise awareness and decrease stigmas, we launched a mental health training program in 2018. As this program evolves to meet our changing world, we’ve focused on a culture of empathetic leadership. By bringing training and awareness-raising programs to lawyers and staff, we focus on our goals to:
- Recognize when there may be a mental health issue at hand
- Advise on how to respond to mental health issues
- Recommend ways to promote good mental health for yourself and others
- And most recently, convey the impact of COVID-19 on people's mental health.
The goal is that, with an increased understanding and awareness throughout the firm, we will all be more confident to identify and discuss mental health issues and, just as importantly, know when, how and where to seek additional support when issues arise for ourselves or others in the firm.

Creating a culture of health in the workplace occurs all year. Avail yourself of our various mental well-being resources, including free access to Journey LIVE for stress management and meditation support. If working out your stress physically is more your speed, take advantage of our Fitness & Well-Being Reimbursement program and fitness discounts with organizations like Equinox and ClassPass. In our Summer Associate Academy, we help students jumpstart a healthy lifestyle with unique programming to encourage well-being.
